Water Based Shellac Solution or Varnish

Clear aqueous shellac solution or varnish provides
(l) A clear aqueous shellac solution or varnish
(2) A shellac solution or varnish capable of yielding tough adhesive, permanently flexible water-resistant films.
(3) A shellac-solution or varnish which is adapted to be further modified by the incorporation therein of suitable pigments, fillers, extenders, and other substances to provide paints, pastes, and other useful products. In other words, a clear shellac solution or varnish is useful in and of itself as a coating composition or adhesive but also as a vehicle for other products such as paints, etc.
Aqueous shellac solutions have been and are generally used as leather and shoe dressings, paper and metal coatings, lithographic varnishes, floor waxes, inks and the like. Clear aqueous shellac varnishes which are highly adhesive in character and yield water resistant films on evaporation.
Due to the swelling action of water on wood, these shellac varnishes should not be used on unprimed wood. However, they can be used over a rosin or drying oil primer to produce a finish comparing favorably with that obtained from a non-aqueous alcohol shellac varnish. They are equally suitable for coating metal and paper objects and as a binder for drawing and printing inks.
Furthermore, they are especially suitable for coating stone, plaster, brick or other porous surfaces. Since they are not affected by further dilution with water, they can be applied to damp concrete or plaster walls. When applied to brick, concrete or plaster walls the varnishes described in this application usually dry to produce a tough tenacious film which does not lift or peel as does a drying oil or varnish film when applied to this type of surface.

Confectioner’s Glaze or Resinous Glaze refers to a coating that is high- quality shellac made from a natural resin, prepared specifically for food use. When used in food and confections, it is also known as confectioner's glaze, candy glaze,resinous glaze, pure food glaze, natural glaze, or confectioner's resin.
Confectioner’s glaze used for candy contains roughly up to 35% shellac, while the remaining components are volatile organic compounds that evaporate after the glaze is applied.
The main uses of glaze in confectionery are to do with coating chocolate goods, such as candy-covered nuts and raisins, and similar products. But what many people may not realize is that it’s also used as a coating on some nutritional supplements, medicines, chewing gum, fruit, and even coffee beans. Fruit coating

Fruit waxing is the process of covering fruits (and in some cases vegetables) with artificial waxing material. Natural wax is removed first, usually by washing. Waxing materials may be either natural or petroleum-based.


Food production and preservation is an important social issue of increasing concern from ancient time onwards and deserves allocation of more research efforts to investigate the preservation of fresh fruits and vegetables. Wood finishing refers to the process of refining or protecting a wooden surface, especially in the production of furniture where typically it represents between 5 and 30% of manufacturing costs.
Finishing is the final step of the manufacturing process that gives wood surfaces desirable characteristics, including enhanced appearance and increased resistance to moisture and other environmental agents. Finishing can also make wood easier to clean and influence other wood properties, In addition, finishing provides a way of giving low-value woods the appearance of ones that are expensive and difficult to obtain.

Heat Resistant Varnish

Heat-resistant coatings have properties such as durability, color retention, water resistance, corrosion resistance, and excellent performance upon exposure to high temperatures. Heat-resistant coatings are increasingly becoming an integral part of various commercial and industrial applications. They are used in various end-user industries such as construction, oil & gas, bedding & furniture, transportation & aerospace, and packaging.

Shellac resins confer excellent properties on protective coatings and exhaust systems, especially those exposed continuously to extreme temperatures and rapid fluctuations in temperature. Properties of heat-resistant coating systems are determined primarily by constituent binders, fillers, and pigments. Shellac resin coatings readily withstand in higher temperatures without getting destroyed or suffering adhesion failure. These are resistant to abrasion, chemicals, and light.

Shellac is 100% natural. Shellac is 100% non toxic and FDA approved. Shellac is a kind of non-toxic natural gum resin dissolves in a wide variety of alkaline or rapidly drying alcoholic solvents but is resistant to a number of other solvents particularly hydrocarbons. The low thermal conductivity and a small coefficient of expansion cause shellac to lead to a powerful bonding material.
